My name is Summer Dawn Hortillosa and I’m from Jersey City, New Jersey. If you came here to contact me, email me at summerhortillosa@gmail.com.
Occupationally, I am a staff writer for The Jersey City Independent. I am also a freelance arts and entertainment writer for publications like The Jersey Journal, for which I was formerly the Hoboken/Entertainment reporter.
I am also a creative writer specializing in short stories, plays and haiku. I am a director and actress as well and have worked on productions of my own plays. My most recent work, “Secrets; Love,” was part of the Downtown Urban Theater Festival in Manhattan.
I also write songs (music and lyrics) but am having difficulty doing anything with them since I can only sing and play the ukulele.
I believe in the beauty of humanity and of feeling.
By the way, I think being a writer makes life brighter and more understandable. Because I am a writer, I can look at life’s challenges and see them as gifts from God who blesses me with new emotions, new characters and new story ideas every day.
On an unrelated note, I really like this song:
Other songs I like: Blue Jeans, We Found Love, The Walk, Radar Detector, Moves Like Jagger, “Heroes”

Just want to tell you that you are beautiful, saw your article this morning in regards to the Lincoln Tunnel incident. Sorry to be so Cheesy, but I am sure you get that all the time.
