Written Portraits

Using lists of meaningful items, notations of peculiar gestures, quotes, anecdotes, particularly accurate adjectives–all mere words–I can paint a picture of a person’s being.

In my profiles, letters of recommendation, essays, etc., I attempt to capture the essence of various subjects while staying true to the purpose of my work.

I often use constructed narratives to highlight some of my subject’s specific traits. For instance, if I were to about a trendy, talented fashion stylist I could use a shopping trip, choosing what to wear or reading a fashion magazing together to provide my work with structure and an opportunity for insight.

I have done profiles on Dr. Sara Solberg, Thomas J. O’Shaughnessy, Jack Halpin, Chumki Gupta, TyAlaxandar, Joelle Zigman and more.
