Had a pretty intense week! I met “Cake Boss” Buddy Valastro in person at a press conference about him making a deal with Marriott Hotels where guests who book weddings and other events at the hotel get a free cake designed by Valastro. He’s super pleasant and I enjoyed the cake samples they gave us.

Also, this week was the Jersey City Artists’ Studio Tour which ended up being a huge package in the Weekend Urge section. It was nuts (I really use that word too much) but it turned out great!

On a hard news end, I actually did some pretty significant stuff this week. I actually completed an article related to the Hoboken University Medical Center that I felt good about after it was written (it felt like I was writing something for The International again, although clearly, nothing in Hoboken will probably ever be an issue discussed in The International.)

Speaking of The International, it’s going live again this month. Also, I met a young journalist from the U.K. with ideas in line with The International’s philosophies while I was working on articles in Panera. His name is Martin Iqbar and his blog is Empire Strikes Black (a reference to oil.)

Now I’m heading for a much-deserved vacation in Pennsylvania with my best friends Sarah Rose and Doug Bauman!
