Things got hot and heavy at our last rehearsal for “Before, After and Always” when my costar Sergio Caetano and I had our first stage kiss under the direction of my assistant director, Liliane Wolf.
Here’s a sexy sneak peek:
It’s my first time kissing for a show, so I was pretty nervous and awkward, but it was no big deal! I can’t wait to stage-kiss some of my future co-stars like Andrew Garfield, Joseph Gordon-Levitt and of course, Ryan Gosling.
Our performance at STAGEfest at the Loew’s is only a week away, so we’re getting really excited and anxious. Yesterday was also our first runthrough and I’m glad to say — Liliane loved it!
As we’re breaking down the story, we’re learning more about our characters and their relationship. Their love is strong and even after they have a messy break-up, they can’t help but miss each other and think, What if they were really meant to be together? The play is only 35 minutes, but I feel myself living through years of love and pain each time we do it. It’s amazing what kind of wild journeys theater can take you on.
Another rehearsal tonight, plus rehearsal for another awesome play I’m in, Washington Irving’s “A Legend of Communipaw,” adapted for the stage by director Trish Szymanski. It’s set in Dutch Jersey City and has pirates, wild waters, ghosts and all sorts of olde-timey fun. Can’t wait!
